Top Features

True Tight Tail Swing Design

The PC138USLC-11 short tail swing design is the perfect solution for working in confined spaces when a conventional excavator will not fit.  A higher boom raise angle reduces the minimum bucket swing radius and is ideal for working in areas with obstructions such as roads, bridges and urban areas.

The PC138USLC-11’s contoured cab design, short tail swing and convex sliding cab door allow the machine to swing within the same radius as the counterweight.  Trucks can be positioned closer to the machine when working within one lane of traffic.

A large counterweight mass provides equal or better lift capacity than most conventional excavators in the same class without requiring additional clearance behind the machine.

The PC138USLC-11 is designed with provisions to install an optional dozing blade to further expand application versatility.

Fuel Efficient Tier 4 Interim Power

To meet Tier 4 Final emissions standards, an SCR system was added to  the PC138USLC-11. The SCR injects DEF into the exhaust stream to reduce particulate matter and reduce Nox.

A Komatsu Diesel Oxidation Catalyst provides 100% passive regeneration without machine interruption.

The DEF tank is easily accessed on the RH side of the machine and has a sight glass and DEF level gauge in the monitor.

To help in cold conditions, the DEF tank is heated with engine coolant. The DEF pump Reverses to purge the lines at key off.  The delivery lines are also electrically heated to prevent freezing and thaw the lines in freezing temperatures.

A DEF level gauge has also been added to the monitor panel.  Similar to a fuel gauge, this informs the operator of the amount of DEF remaining in the tank.

Advanced Hydraulic System

Komatsu’s hydraulic system design takes efficiency to the next level by helping reduce fuel consumption up to 7% when compared to the PC138USLC-8.

A closed center load sensing hydraulic system design ensures smooth operation, quick cycle times, and great multifunction operation while lowering fuel consumption.

A larger displacement pump produces more flow at a lower engine rpm and allows operation at the most efficient engine speed.

An easy to access pattern change valve is standard and makes it easy to switch from ISO to backhoe controls.

Improved Serviceability

New handrails on the upper structure provide a convenient and secure work area in front of the engine.

A battery disconnect switch has been added to cut electrical power to the machine during service or electrical work.  Sealed connectors in the electrical harness and O-Ring face seal fittings in the hydraulic system improve machine reliability.

A fuel pre-filter with water separator and a new high efficiency dual element fuel filter provide improved filtration efficiency.  A new double element air cleaner can be cleaned and re-used up to 6 times.

The engine oil and fuel filters have ground level access and are conveniently located for easy maintenance.

KOMTRAX level 4 system provides GPS location, fuel, hours and vehicle performance information wirelessly to www.komtrax.us to aid in better machine management.  Komatsu Advanced diagnostic system does not require a laptop or additional software to use.

Komatsu CARE provides complimentary scheduled maintenance for 3 years or 2,000 hours.   Service is performed by factory certified technicians using Komatsu Genuine parts and fluids (Low ash engine oil required).
